Licensure and Certification Information

The Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences program provides a curriculum and supervised experiences that are designed to fulfill required competencies established by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics under the Future Education Model (FEM) accreditation. Successful completion of the program results in a Verification Statement from the Program Director authorizing eligibility to sit for the national registration exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Successful passage of this exam confers the title Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

  • Our curriculum meets the educational requirements for MLS certification or licensure in states: AA, AE, AK, AL, AP, AR, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, GU, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, PR, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY
  • Our curriculum does not meet the educational requirements for MLS licensure in states: MH, MP, PW
  • These states or territories do not regulate the profession: AS, AZ, CA, CO, FM, MI, VA, VI

NOTE: Our 5-year Accelerated Bachelor's + Master's program in Nutrition Sciences will give you the knowledge, training, and clinical experience to enter this dynamic and rewarding field as a Registered Dietitian or a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Upon successful completion of the graduate program, a verification statement is granted and the graduate is eligible to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration exam. This program was developed in response to the credentialing changes that will take effect on January 1, 2024.
