New JerseyNot Intended for LicensureNew Jersey recently began requiring state licensure for all dietitians working in the state. Under Statute 45:168-1, which became effective January 13, 2021, you must qualify as a licensed dietitian nutritionist in New Jersey in order to legally practice however, due to delay in approving the appointments to the licensing board and, as a result, no mechanism has been established to regulate the industry. Based on our recent communications with the Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA), they will not be enforcing the law until the Board appointees have been approved by the full senate and the regulations have been adopted. According to DCA, licensure will not be required until the Board has officially been appointed and the regulations adopted.
